North Village and St. George's played to a scoreless draw at the Wellington Oval.

St. George's set out immediately on the attack with Sinclair Smith and Steven Denbrook constantly exploiting holes in the Vilage defence along the left side. Due to the blustery conditions, neither team were able to mount a sustained string of passes as the wind played havoc.

The first shot on goal came 15 minutes into the game as Village's Clinton Caisey initiated a drive through midfield and laid off a back-pass to Jamal Smith who shot wide from 15 yards.

However, this was to be the last shot on goal for Village for several minutes as they struggled in vain to put together anything vaguely resembling their customary raids.

In the opening 25 minutes, St.George's appeared the more comfortable and composed as the two sides traded attacks.

Though still being outplayed by St. George's in the first half, Village began to pick up momentum. They repeatedly attacked down the left flank with Jamal Smith the beneficiary of many fine passes.

As play continued, Sinclair Smith of St. George's was shown the yellow card for latching onto the jersey of a Village defender from behind. Two minutes later, St. George's began another attack on the left side with Delbert Minors laying on a perfectly placed ball to Gregory Foggo who got by a defender and squared the ball to Denbrook whose fierce first-time shot was deflected away by the Village 'keeper.

In the second half, Village came out on the attack. Their relentless assault on the St. George's goal produced three straight corners with 'keeper Troy Hall having to scramble each time to clear the ball off the far post.

Two minutes later Village were at it again. This time Jamal Smith made a move down the right wing and fed a ball to Kevin Jennings who shot just over.

The pressure on the St. George's defence continued this time off a deflected Village free kick, which was chased down by Tito Smith only to have Hall smother the shot at Smith's feet.

After 65 minutes, it appeared St. George's began to get back into the attack.

A free kick taken by Minors, just outside the Village area saw the only goal of the game, which was immediately taken away by referee Rex Osborne due to a foul on the Village 'keeper by Princely Fubler.

Three minutes later referee Osborne showed the yellow card to both Jamal Smith of Village and Gregory Foggo of St.George's for unsportsmanly conduct.

The referee again dispensed justice by issuing the yellow card to Wali Salaam for his fierce tackle on Sinclair Smith.

Meanwhile, Paul Simmons made one of his many skillful and daring runs down the right wing where he eluded two defenders only to have his cross put wide from four yards out by Tito Smith. The miss by Smith was no doubt the best scoring opportunity for either team during the game.

Things threatened to get ugly when a linesman got into a heated exchange with North Village supporters after he claimed he was hit by a bottle thrown from the crowd.
