Jurors were sent home while Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Meerabux presided over a voir dire -- a trial within the main trial to determine whether certain evidence should be heard by the jury.

Richardson, 24, of Harrington Sound Road, Smith's Parish, faces multiple charges in connection with a shooting inside the Spinning Wheel nightclub on Court Street last October 29.

He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, wounding with intent, unlawful wounding, using a firearm, and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Ian Jason Simmons, who is also known as DeSilva, was shot four times and spent ten days in the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Another man, Jermaine Lovell, was shot in the hand.

Mr. Peter DeJulio is representing the Crown while Mr. Mark Pettingill is defending Richardson.

The trial is expected to resume before the jury at 9.30 a.m. this morning.
