Police are urging drivers to slow down and warning that they will be keeping a close eye on the roads after a man was clocked going 130 kilometres per hour early yesterday morning.Police conducted speed checks after it was reported that individuals leaving bars in the Western parishes were travelling at high speeds. They ticketed several individuals for travelling at 70, 80 and 90 kph.

Driver clocked at 130 kph

Police are urging drivers to slow down and warning that they will be keeping a close eye on the roads after a man was clocked going 130 kilometres per hour early yesterday morning.

Police conducted speed checks after it was reported that individuals leaving bars in the Western parishes were travelling at high speeds. They ticketed several individuals for travelling at 70, 80 and 90 kph.

The young man travelling at 130 kph tried to evade the Police but collided into a wall near Beacon Hill Road in Sandys after losing control of his vehicle. He was arrested for suspicion of driving while impaired.

Another young man was arrested for riding a motocross cycle. He too tried to evade Police and also lost control of his cycle. The young man was arrested for suspicion of driving while impaired.

Police said they have seen a slight rise in the number of individuals arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Paget man assaulted

A Paget man was assaulted in Swinging Doors nightclub early yesterday morning.

The 35-year-old man was standing outside the nightclub when he was approached by a 22-year-old Devonshire man he knew. The men got into an argument and the Devonshire man followed the Paget man into the nightclub. He then assaulted the Paget man with a baseball bat, while his friends threw bottles at the Paget man.
