Prison for Internet predator
A 21-year-old man appearing in Supreme Court was sentenced to 15 months in prison for having sex with a minor.
Ronico Tafarie Richardson, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl who was 13-years-old on the first offence and 14 on the second.
The court heard from Crown counsel Nicole Smith that the two met on MSN, where Richardson told the girl he was 17.
They eventually agreed to meet and sometime during July last year, Richardson went to the girl's house and they had sex on her mother's bed. The girl was 13-years-old at the time of the incident and Richardson was aged 20.
On February 5 this year, with the girl then aged 14, and Richardson, then aged 21, the two met again at the girl's house. They had sex again on the mother's bed after everyone had left the house.
Ms. Smith said that the mother's partner came home and attempted to open the locked bedroom door. He called the girl's mother, who then returned home. When she went into the room she saw the girl lying on the bed.
The mother and her partner found Richardson under the bed shirtless with his pants open and his belt hanging.
Richardson apologised to the court and asked Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves to give him another chance, but Richardson, who was represented by Larry Scott, was given 15 months imprisonment.
