Hamilton in May, was yesterday fined $1,150 and disqualified from driving for a year.

James A. Cyrus, of Union Street, was charged in Magistrates' Court with driving in a dangerous manner, failing to stop for Police, riding without a licence, riding an unlicensed cycle, and riding without insurance.

Cyrus had pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier, but failed to show up for his September 9 trial.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was brought before the Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to all of the above offences.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Police were stationed on the corner of Elliott and Court Streets on May 8 when a blue Honda motorcycle sped past them on Elliott Street.

Police followed Cyrus, who looked behind him at the Police car, accelerated and rode off.

Cyrus took them on a chase along Princess Street to Dundonald Street, then past Court Street and Union Street to King Street.

On King Street, Cyrus lost control of his bike and fell to the ground but immediately got up and ran away. He was later arrested.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Cyrus $400 and banned him from driving for a year for dangerous driving.

Cyrus was also fined $100 for failing to stop for Police, $150 for not having a driver's licence, $150 for riding an unlicensed cycle, and $350 for having no insurance.
