Accused armed robber Derek Roy Spalding faced four additional robbery charges, including that of John Swan Ltd., when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Spalding -- who last month appeared in court in connection with the Lindo's grocery store robbery -- was charged with robbing John Swan Ltd., on Victoria Street, on April 4.

The court heard that 21-year-old Spalding -- of no fixed abode -- fled with more than $6,000 after brandishing a .22 calibre gun and firing a shot.

Spalding was also charged with possessing a .22 calibre firearm without a licence, using the firearm to rob, firing the gun, intent to commit a felony with a camouflaged mask, and escaping on a stolen Peugot worth $3,200.

He was also charged with robbing the Crawl Hill Esso Service Station on May 11.

In connection with that incident, Spalding was accused of stealing more than $600, possessing a firearm without a licence, threatening injury to Sherri-Lynn Fubler, intending to rob with a camouflaged scarf, and stealing a Yamaha DT motorcycle worth $1,600.

The court heard that Spalding was also believed to be involved in the Belvin's Grocery, Devonshire robbery on May 27.

He was accused -- with another person who did not appear in court yesterday -- of robbing William Pearman of $900 with the use of a machete, possessing a firearm without a licence, wearing a mask with a scarf, and stealing a Honda Scoopy worth $1,200 from Brian Raskin or receiving the stolen bike.

Spalding, represented by lawyer Mark Pettingill, was also charged with robbing Ronald Donovan Davenport on January 7, possessing a firearm without a licence, possessing an offensive weapon -- a knife -- with intent to commit robbery with a cloth mask, demanding money with threat if Davenport did not comply, assaulting Davenport, and stealing a Motorola Radio worth $1,200 from Safeguard Services Ltd. and the cap of Davenport worth $15.

Spalding was not required to enter a plea on any of the charges which are indictable and will be dealt with in the Supreme Court.

Last month Spalding was charged in Magistrates' Court with ten charges, including attempted murder, in connection with the Lindo's robbery on June 1.

Spalding was remanded in custody and ordered to return to court on July 16 for mention. Mr. Pettingill made no application for bail.
