Boulevard 0, Somerset 2
Boulevard team in this sloppy, poorly-attended battle at St. David's.
The win moves Somerset into fourth place while Boulevard drop to fifth.
Though Somerset were clearly the better team on the day, Boulevard were not at full strength.
They were missing several key players including goalkeeper Lynn Tucker, defenders Wayne Richardson and Herbie Bascome, midfielders Clinton Caisey and Dwight Warren, and forward Kenny Hill.
Despite this, Boulevard have only themselves to blame since they failed to make their numerous opportunities count.
In the fifth minute, Boulevard forward Vincent Tuzo had his shot blocked by Somerset goalkeeper Gladwin Edness after a Dean Boyles cross on the right.
Three minutes later, Boulevard were again within scoring range but Carlos Pearman hit his well-timed left-foot shot wide of the near post.
After some early surges at the other end, Richard Scott opened the score in the 23rd minute with a right-footed volley that left Boulevard's 'keeper Danny Crockwell stranded.
The move was begun on the left after a throw by defender Andrew Rahman was crossed into the area by Larry Simmons, who found Scott unmarked at the back post.
Boulevard seemed unfazed by this early score and came right back. Vernon Eve stole the ball from Randy Simmons in midfield and surged forward, with four team-mates waiting in the area compared to only two Somerset defenders. Eve then passed to Clevie Rogers whose shot sailed over the crossbar.
After the break, Boulevard midfielder Dean Boyles misfired, sending his shot wide after connecting with a cross from Rogers.
Boyles was again bestowed a gift, when he received a precision pass from Tuzo, just inside the penalty area, but his shot bounced off the crossbar.
At the other end, Somerset forward Rodney Bascome found himself with plenty of room on the left, and his cross found Scott at the edge of the 18-yard box.
But the shot went inches over the bar.
With seven minutes left, substitute Kwame Tucker had his effort partially stopped by Crockwell, but Reginald Tucker pounced on the loose ball and drove it home.
