Woman urged to sit on Gov't boards
number of women serving on Government boards and committees.
Although women make up about 48 percent of the work force, "women only represent approximately 25 percent of the members'' of such boards, the local chapter pointed out.
And it urged women to apply to sit on Government boards and committees "as soon as possible''.
"One of the aims and objectives of the Business and Professional Women's Association of Bermuda is to stimulate the interest of and encourage the participation of women with specialised knowledge and the technical skill of business and professional women in the business of Government in the community,'' Bermuda's BPWA president Mrs. Dolores Darrell said.
Applications to Government boards and committees for 1994 are available at the Cabinet Office or from Mrs. Darrell or BPWA committee members.
For further information contact Mrs. Darrell at 292-7124 (days) or 238-2099 (evenings).
