Pharmacist suspended

King Edward VII Memorial Hospital has suspended a pharmacist after drugs were stolen last Wednesday.

The hospital would not say which drugs went missing or how much.

A spokesperson said: "On December 10 we found empty vials in a bathroom and immediately began an investigation and informed the Police.

"On Friday one of our pharmacists admitted that they had taken the drugs from the pharmacy and was consequently put on suspension from the BHB immediately.

"We are currently investigating the matter internally. We are not aware of any drug selling activity whatsoever."

The spokesperson said Police had been informed immediately but a Police spokesman could not confirm that a Police investigation was taking place.
