Virtual celebration of marriage launched

The Premier launched a socially distanced commemoration for International Marriage Week yesterday.

Allan and Mildred Hunt, who are marriage counsellors, said David Burt was likely to issue an electronic proclamation to mark the occasion because of Covid-19 restrictions.

The pair’s Heart-to-Heart Marriage Mentoring Ministry celebrates the occasion from February 7 to 14 every year.

They called on couples to observe the occasion this year using online resources, such as the “marriage toolkit”, at www.nationalmarriageweek.org

Mr and Mrs Hunt also recommended couples watched the YouTube videos by Robert Hastings, from the Art of Marriage series – Love Interrupted, Love Sizzles, Love Dances and Love Always.

Mr Hunt also suggested married couples “take time for one another” and order a dinner for home delivery.

He added: “Create your own environment – bring out the candles and play some romantic music.”

Other recommendations for a safe week of marriage observance included a walk on the Railway Trail, record family heritage together and review the wedding album.

The couple added anyone who wanted advice on marriage or books on the subject should contact their office at 293-2903, or e-mail heart2heartbda@gmail.com.
