Covid-19: two new cases reported
Two new coronavirus cases were reported over the last few days, the health ministry said last night.
The positive results were among 1,385 test results that came back to health officials.
One was from overseas – a resident who flew back on last Saturday’s American Airlines flight from Miami and tested positive on arrival.
The other new case was said to be an on-island transmission with a known contact.
There has been one recovery since the ministry’s last update on Friday.
The island now has 11 active cases with eight under public health monitoring.
Three people are in hospital, but none are in intensive care.
The island has had 694 cases of the illness since the pandemic hit last March, with 671 people recovered and 12 deaths.
A total of 491 cases have been on-island transmissions and 401 had known contacts, 90 had unknown contacts and two are under investigation.
The number of cases that came in from overseas is 201.
The real-time reproduction number is less than one and Bermuda’s country status remains at “sporadic cases”.
