Senator Wayne Caines

Wayne Caines is currently employed as Chief of Staff to the Premier of Bermuda. He is also a Senator and the Junior Minister of Transport, Tourism, Labour and Immigration.

Prior to his appointment to the Senate Wayne was employed as a Crown Counsel in the Department of Public Prosecutions for 7 years. Senator Caines served as a Captain in the Bermuda Regiment; his last posting was as the Second in Command of Alpha Company.

Senator Caines graduated from Oakwood College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and a minor in Political Science. He is also a graduate of the University of Kent School of Law and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.

Senator Caines has a deep commitment to the community of Bermuda. He is active in the local chapter of his Fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., and has served as the Youth Director of the Hamilton SDA Church. He is also member of the Southampton Inspirational Choir.

Senator Caines believes all that Members of Parliament should never stray from the concerns and issues of their constituency. As the candidate for Hamilton South some of his primary concerns are the availability of preschool and nursery spaces, rejuvenating the facilities at John Smith's Bay and an increase in safe open spaces where families can congregate.

Senator Caines is married to Maxanne Caines, a barrister who specializes in reinsurance ligation. They have one daughter, Maxanne (8),
