Fishermen stranded after battery fails

A flat battery made two fishermen drift off Bermuda for two hours before the came to their rescue, Harbour Radio said yesterday.

A 36-foot fishing boat ? ?radioed Harbour Radio at 3.04 p.m. yesterday, when they were six miles east-north-east of St. George?s Town Cut, the spokesman said.

?The 36-foot boat had two people on board and they had suffered battery failure.

?They could not get it going. They could not anchor because it was too deep, so they were drifting slowly off shore.?

The spokesman said the fishermen called for assistance and the Marine & Ports pilot boat was dispatched and found the drifting vessel.

?was safely put into St. George?s Harbour at 5.50 p.m.? he said.

And the two fishermen were both safely brought ashore.

?There was no battery power on the boat,? he said.
