Snowballs clinched their first-ever Division A championship with a 7-5 victory over Team Xerox during Commercial League action on Saturday night. A 10-6

Braxton Stowe belted a grand slam home run in the second inning during Saturday's game to help Snowballs to the victory. Stowe -- along with Sylvain Fontaine -- had two hits in the game as the pair accounted for five RBI.

Winning hurler Mario Valcourt spun another pitching gem on Sunday when he limited ACT to six runs.

Valcourt helped his own cause when he went three-for-three against ACT and swatted a home run and a double to drive in two runs. Bruno Richard also shined at the plate with two hits and three RBI.

In other games on Sunday, Sousa defeated Ace Hogs 7-3, Wildcats roared over Police Club 13-4, Elbow Beach nipped Chips 9-8, Cooper & Lines clubbed Arctic Penguins 11-8 and Sandys Sports Club stomped on Kempe & Whittle 17-0.

David DeSilva limited Kempe & Whittle to only three hits -- John Mawer had two of them -- in earning the shutout and victory.

Leading the batting brigade for Sandys were pitcher DeSilva, who accounted for four hits, including a double and three RBI, and Mike Corday with three hits.

Mike Malott was the losing pitcher for Kempe & Whittle.

Dan Franchak and Pio Monteiro led the way for Cooper & Lines with their bats as each had two hits. Franchak also managed to hit a round-tripper off losing pitcher Derek Smith.

Bruce Benevides hit two home runs in the losing cause for Penguins.

Pitchers Alan DeSilva of Sousa's and Randy Kowch of Ace Hogs sparkled, but it was DeSilva who came away with the victory.

DeSilva also provided some punch with a pair of hits while Harold Madeiros picked up four RBIs.

Wade Jerrett and Karen White gave Ace Hog fans something to cheer about as they drove in a run apiece.

Wildcats were explosive at the plate with Gary Knight going three-for-three (home run, triple and double) and Rick Weech and Barry Mah also spraying triples in the victory.

James Thomas was the winner while John Fryer was tagged with the loss.

In a hitting fest, ACT topped St. David's 16-13 on Saturday. Richard Davidge, Debbie DeShields and Greg Kressen were offensive stalwarts with three hits apiece, driving in seven of the team's runs in helping Paul Thorne to the victory.

St. David's had some punch of their own with four hits from Myron Brangman (home run and double) and three from Arthur Pitcher (two home runs and double). Brangman and Pitcher also drove in 10 of St. David's 13 runs.

There was also a double-default on Saturday as Cock & Feather and AICO failed to show up for their game.
