Crash victim still critical
A 47-year-old motorcyclist was still clinging to life last night after suffering serious head injuries when he struck a utility pole on Middle Road on Sunday.
Last night a spokeswoman from clinical programmes at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital said the man, who is from Hamilton parish, remained in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
However, she would not say if he was still connected to a life support machine.
Police said at around 10.50 p.m. on Sunday the 47-year-old was travelling west on Middle Road, Southampton near the junction of Tribe Road No. Six when he lost control of his motorcycle, scraped along a wall and smashed into a utility pole.
Police said that no other vehicles were involved in the collision, however, they were not a liberty to say whether the man had been speeding, or drinking alcohol.
A large portion of Middle Road in Southampton, from Church Road to the junction with Lighthouse Road was closed to traffic for several hours on Sunday night as Police Road Traffic Collision Investigators examined the scene.
