Jon L. Brunson was born on 29 August 1961 and is one of seven children. His parents and grandparents, who were the owner-operators of Ryan’s Restaurant on the top of Camp Hill, fostered his strong sense of family and community. Ryan’s was a focal point of community gathering as it was one of a few locations that had a TV.

Jon is the proud and active father of two children, Jasmine (15) and Kyle (12). He believes that strong and healthy values are important in raising today’s young people, all of which must be grounded by faith in a higher power.

Having graduated with a dual Masters Degree in Management and in Human Resources, Jon is currently the Human Resources and Compliance Manager for one of the world’s top Fund Managers based in Bermuda.

Jon is a Director of the Masterworks Foundation and Director of the Donor Forum. He has served in a variety of senior roles with the Bermuda Gymnastics Association, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Programme, the Bermuda Society of Arts, CedarBridge Academy, the Public Transport Board, the Anglican Cathedral and the Paget Lions Club.

Jon is also an avid sportsman. The list of sports he is still actively involved in are tennis, squash, field hockey, triathlon, running, sculling, skiing and fencing. He previously served as an assistant coach for the Devonshire Colts under 11s team. Aside from sport, he dedicates time to training young students in workforce preparedness through improving their resume writing and interview skills. The seminar is entitled KTD-101 (Knocking Them Dead) and is run in conjunction with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Jon was elected to Parliament in July 2003. He has served as the Shadow Minister for Youth and Sport and currently holds the position of Shadow Minister for Works and Engineering and Sport.

Did you know...

Jon has represented Bermuda at the World Triathlon Championships as well as successfully competed in Iron Man Europe. He enjoys participating in the 24 of May Marathon Derby having participated in the event over 10 times.
