Residents will be able to pay their last respects to the late Eugene Cox during two viewings at Alaska Hall this weekend, Government announced in a press statement yesterday.

The Official Funeral will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Hamilton with the Bishop of Bermuda the Right Reverend Ewen Ratteray officiating.

Mr. Cox will be buried at St. James Church cemetery following the service.

His body will lie in state at the Progressive Labour Party?s (PLP) Alaska Hall headquarters on Court Street on Friday and Saturday before the funeral.

A private viewing, for family members, Government Ministers and Members of Parliament will be held at 6 p.m.

And the general public will be able to view the body from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and also from 10 a.m. until 12.15 p.m. on Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning, Premier Alex Scott, members of Mr. Cox?s family and Cabinet Ministers will meet at the Cabinet Office for a private ceremony led by Dr. Arnold Hollis before heading off to Alaska Hall.

The Bermuda Regiment will form a Guard of Honour and lead the procession from Alaska Hall, pausing at the Government Administration building before proceeding in a slow march to the Cathedral.

The party lauded Mr. Cox?s service to the country at a press conference yesterday.

?Mr. Cox helped us to erase the myths of the past and chart new possibilities for the future,? said ruling party chairman Neville Tyrell, flanked by other party officials.
