Children and young people are to feature strongly in the funeral service for murdered Shaundae Jones next week.

A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Southampton, followed by burial at St. Mary's cemetery in Warwick.

The choir from Shaundae's former school, Bermuda Institute, will sing throughout the service, along with solos sang by some of his friends.

And the school's music teacher Owen Simons is directing the music throughout, while another teacher is putting together a collage of the young man's short life.

Shaundae's mother, Marsha, said: "He was baptised at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Southampton, he had both his graduations from middle and high school there, and that is where he attended. It was his church, so we wanted to have the service there.

"It will be a celebration of his life. Shaundae loved life. I want the service to be quite upbeat because we have already had a lot of upset, and I have told the children to wear colours and anything they want, so long as they are respectful to the church."

Shaundae's best friends and some of his cousins are to be pall bearer's at the service, and his friends are planning to form a guard of honour at the cemetery as the coffin is carried in for burial.

"Everybody is doing so much, and wants to be involved, it really is a great help to me," his mother said.

Shaundae leaves behind his mother Marsha, father Winston Parker, who lives in England, half sisters Tracey and Tasha Bean, and half brother Lloyd Parker.
