Frenchman still missing

The hunt for Frenchman Mehdi Yahi is continuing nearly four months after he was last seen being escorted off the stage at a Heather Nova concert.

Mr. Yahi — an exuberant fan of the singer — had travelled on his own to see her perform at the Fairmont Southampton on Saturday, January 31.

Eyewitnesses say he jumped on the stage to lay flowers before being led away. Two days later, some of his belongings were found on the beach at Chaplin Bay, Warwick, but despite a thorough search of the coastline there has been no sign of him.

He is described as white, about 5ft 7 ins, slim, clean shaven with black hair.

Anyone with information about any of this person's whereabouts should call 295-0011.

Ten runners in hospital after Derby

The Bermuda Day heat was too much for about ten runners, who ended up in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

KEMH officials said the figure was not unusually high given the number of people who took part in the annual half marathon.

A spokeswoman said: "Out of the many thousands of runners on Monday, about ten people sought treatment at the hospital. None were seriously ill, and all were discharged the same day without being admitted."

Motorcyclist breaks leg in crash

A motorcyclist suffered a fractured leg after a crash with another bike.

The 24-year-old Warwick man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following the accident on Berry Hill Road, Paget, shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday.

A 16-year-old girl from Smith's, who was riding the other bike, was not injured.

About an hour earlier that day, a Police motorcycle hit a car on North Shore Road, Smith's, as the car attempted to enter Terceira's service station.

The Police officer was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries, although the 47-year-old Devonshire man driving the car was not injured.

Throughout the week ending Monday, May 25, there were 59 collisions, of which 23 resulted in injury.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, while nine bikes and a car were stolen. Two of the bikes and the car have been recovered.

Twelve domestic violence calls over holiday

Seven assaults were reported and 19 complaints of loud music took place over the Bermuda Day weekend.

Police also received reports of 12 domestic related disputes, one robbery and six burglaries between 7 a.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. yesterday.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving, while there were 26 road accidents, of which ten resulted in injury, and seven vehicles were stolen.
