The man was taken to hospital but was apparently released after treatment, following the single vehicle accident on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish at 5.30 p.m.

According to a Police statement, his car flew into the air and landed upside down, skidding across the road into the opposite carriageway, after its nearside hit a stone wall.

The man was trapped inside the grey Nissan and was released by firefighters.

He was then taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Crown counsel Graveney Bannister said the man was in the television room at Pembroke Rest Home when Stowe, of South Terrace, Pembroke, approached him and asked for $2.

He said he only had large bills and revealed his hand full of cash to Stowe -- who promptly grabbed the money and left.

Mr. Warner told Stowe: "You are not tricking me, you're tricking yourself.

A cash float and a change float were reported stolen from a store room and the thief apparently tampered with a bottle of liquor but left it open at the scene.

The complainant said a member of the public alerted him on Thursday morning after noticing that the store had been forcibly entered.

A significant amount of jewellery was reported stolen from a forced open glass showcase.
