A Good Samaritan who picked up a hitchhiker was robbed at knife-point.

The 46-year old victim was driving east out of Dockyard when he stopped to pick up a hitchhiker at about 6.30 p.m. last Wednesday.

The passenger told the victim that he was going to Cooks Hill Road in Somerset.

However, when they arrived, the hitchhiker pulled out a 12-inch butcher's knife and demanded the driver's money.

The driver stopped his car and then handed over all of his money, before the robber ran off.

The victim went to Somerset Police Station to report the incident.
