Yesterday Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd. announced the completion of the first link to the world's most advanced fiber optic transoceanic telecommunication network a full three months ahead of contract schedule.

Tyco provided the Pacific Crossing-1 system as a turnkey project, including undersea plant, marine installation, permits, cable station construction, and terminal equipment. Tyco will complete the full Pacific Crossing-1 system in 2000 by installing three additional segments to form a self-healing network.

NEW LOGO FOR MASS MUTUAL BUC New logo for Mass Mutual Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, which has offices in Bermuda has revealed its new logo. The company, which will now be known as MassMutual Financial Group, has said they hope that the new branding will enhance the businesses' blue chip image.

"This distinctive new logo, which replaces the previous corporate signature in use since 1996, enhances our blue chip image and more accurately reflects the new directions our organisation is taking within the changing financial services marketplace,'' said Eustis Walcott, head of Corporate Communications.

The new logo adapts the rings and colour from MassMutual's current blue chip to create a more contemporary and futuristic look. The tag line now reads `The Blue Chip Companies'. Before it read `The Blue Chip Company'.

REVIEW TEAMS UP WITH VISA BUC Review teams up with Visa A Bermudian electronic commerce company has teamed up with Visa's Latin American and Caribbean regions in a new publicity venture.

Review Worldwide Ltd Bermuda, which owns the site www.reviewstore.com, signed the deal with Visa which will mean that Visa cardholders will get $1.00 off any CD or movie bought at the site. The e-promotion will be marketed in Latin America and the Caribbean.

FRONTLINE GRANTS SHARE OPTIONS BUC Frontline grants share options The board of Frontline Ltd. recently approved the grant of 300,000 share options in respect to their employee share option plan.

Under this grant, 250,000 shares have been allocated to employees of Frontline and its subsidiaries with the remaining 50,000 reserved for future employees.

$50M CONTRACT FOR PANGEA BUC $50m contract for Pangea Bermuda-based Pangea Ltd. yesterday awarded a $50 million contract to Bechtel Telecommunications to manage an 6,000 km fibre optical cable system.

The system will link eight countries in Northern Europe and Scandinavia, according to Pangea's Engineering and Operations senior vice president Joseph Kapusinsky.

The cable system, Pangea 1, is scheduled to be ready for service in the fourth quarter of 2000, Mr. Kapusinsky said.

Countries on the network are Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
