Paul Mario Smith, 23, of Hillview Lane, Warwick, was remanded in custody by Chief Justice Austin Ward when he appeared at Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Austin Ward rejected an application for bail from his lawyer Elizabeth Christopher.

He said: "Anyone involved in cocaine goes to prison, the only question is for how long.'' Mr. Justice Ward also dismissed an application for a social inquiry report, saying: "It's a straightforward offence. We can see what the probation officer says.'' Smith, a father of two, was remanded in custody until 19 June when he will appear for sentencing.

He also pleaded not guilty to importing cocaine in March this year and Senior Crown Counsel Brian Calhoun asked for the offence to lie on the file.

At the same arraignment session, Pembroke man Jerome Eugene Dublin was granted bail until August 7 after pleading not guilty to nine drug offences.

He denies importing cocaine and cannabis and handling and possessing the drugs with intent to supply.

A Sandys man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was granted bail until September 18 after he pleaded not guilty to a serious sexual assault on a young boy and sexual exploitation of the young person.

Another man, who also cannot be named but is currently in the Westgate Correctional Facility, pleaded not guilty to a serious sexual assault and robbing a woman.

Ellsworth Eugene Wilson, 55, of Mount Hill, Pembroke, had his bail continued until September 11. He denies wounding a woman with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Paul Ronald Williams, 31, from East Shore Road, Sandys, was remanded in custody until June 20 after denying robbery with a machete on March 7 and possession of an offensive weapon.

Four men were granted bail after pleading not guilty to conspiracy to import cannabis, importing the drug, handling with intent to supply and possession with intent to supply between January 10 and 17 this year.

Antowyn Bennett and Kenneth Smith, from St. George's, Andrew Fox, of Pembroke, and Victor Bean, of Devonshire, will appear for mention on September 1.

Floyd McCoy Hayward, 45, of Friswell's Hill, Pembroke, who faces a retrial on a charge of importing heroin, was bailed until September 5.

Paco Fubler, 25, of Sunset View Road, Pembroke, who is charged with murdering golf caddie Brian Sherlock six years ago, was remanded in custody for trial on June 5.

Keith Bean, 34, of Somerset Road, Sandys, had bail extended until August 21.

Bean was cleared last month of causing grievous bodily harm to a colleague on a construction site with intent, but will be retried on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm after the jury failed to reach a decision.

Nathan Paul Richardson, 23, of Tablerock Avenue, Pembroke, had his bail continued until September 1. He is charged with importing and possessing more than $300,000 worth of cannabis resin, heroin and cocaine.

Bail was also extended for two Warwick men -- Kenneth Durrant, 48, and Alexander Ming, 42. Both are charged with possessing and handling cocaine on July 5. Ming is further charged with importing cocaine between June 21 and July 5.

Craig Stapff, 37 of North Shore Road, Pembroke, was remanded in custody until June 23. He pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to two counts of theft and three counts of breaking and entering earlier this year and was sent to Supreme Court for sentencing.
