New stamps celebrate the work of BAMZ

Stamp collectors can look forward to adding another set of first day covers to their collection from today with the release of a series of stamps marking the 75th anniversary of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ).

The Bermuda Philatelic Bureau and BAMZ jointly announced the release of the series.

The series marks BAMZ's evolution from a zoo to an educational centre, according to a Government Information Services statement.

"This collection continues the Bermuda Post Office's efforts to portray all facets of Bermuda's heritage, culture and history," the statement read.

Designed by BAMZ staff artist Jason Semos, the six stamp series features one of the Aquarium's oldest resident, Sally a Galapagos turtle, and other exhibits.

The stamps are available from today at the Bermuda Philatelic Bureau in Hamilton and any of the Island's Sub Post Offices.
