Esso has new gas station in the pipeline

If planning approval is granted, construction could begin on the new Esso gas station in Warwick in a few months, according to Esso Bermuda general manager Mark Fields.

"We are going for final approval," Mr. Fields said. "We are putting in our building plans to be approved."

Last March, it was unveiled by Pembroke Hamilton Club (PHC) president Chris Furbert that part of the re-development of the sports complex would include a gas station which was said to be replacing the existing Riddell's Bay service station.

Although he would not reveal the cost of the 20-year lease, Mr. Furbert said the proceeds would boost the club's financial position significantly.

When the lease expires, Esso would have the option of renewing it for a further 20 years.

Plans for the Stadium Lane property include the building of a million-dollar sporting facility.

"We'll have have an indoor facility that can seat between 1,500 and 2,000 people and we're sure it will be successful," Mr. Furbert said at a press conference last year.
