TV presenter slashed in early morning attack
A rising star in Bermuda?s media business was slashed in an early morning robbery outside the Bermuda College on Sunday.
Akin Flood, who was a news presenter for Fresh TV as well as the host of the Saturday morning teen show ?Strictly Gage and Crew?, was attacked by three men as he left an event at the Paget campus.
According to Police, Mr. Flood, 18, who lives in Pembroke, and a friend, also 18, had arrived at the College at about 1 a.m. and were leaving after the event ended at about 3 a.m.
As they exited the College?s main gates, the pair were approached by three young men who then assaulted them.
During the scuffle, the assailants took a wallet and a white Nokia cell phone from the two.
Mr. Flood?s friend managed to break away, leaving him on his own with the three attackers. A scuffle occurred and Mr. Flood received two lacerations to his face and one to his wrist.
Mr. Flood was taken to hospital but was released later. Police said there was no indication that a weapon was used in the attack.
One of the suspects has been described as a dark-skinned male, approximately five foot six inches to five foot seven inches tall. He was wearing a black, padded jacket and a long gold chain and had a short hair cut.
