Two men have been arrested and another was in hospital with stab wounds yesterday after two bar brawls broke out in the early hours ? one in Hamilton and one in St. George?s.

Both fights started inside drinking establishments and then spilled out onto the street, Police said.

At 12.45 a.m. yesterday, Police attended a reported assault at The Beach Bar on Front Street in Hamilton.

The bar?s manager said two men had been fighting inside the bar earlier on Wednesday night, but security personnel had stopped the fight.

However, after the men were taken outside, another fight involving more individuals took place on the same street as the Hamilton Police Station.

?After the men left, another altercation occurred at the junction of Front Street and Parliament Street involving several men and, as a result, one man was stabbed,? Police said.

?The victim, a 20-year-old Warwick man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. The suspect, a 21-year-old Smith?s Parish man, was arrested after a brief foot chase.?

The stabbing victim was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital yesterday.

Just hours earlier, Police had responded to another reported disturbance in St. George?s at Ordnance Island.

Around 11.25 p.m. on Wednesday, a female assault victim told Police that earlier in the evening she had been at Freddie?s Pub on the Square with a male friend and another man when a fight broke out.

?All three individuals then left Freddie?s Pub on the Square and went to Ordnance Island where a physical altercation occurred,? Police said. ?As a result a 28-year-old man was arrested, taken to St. George?s Police Station and detained.?

Police spokesman Robin Simmons said the woman received injuries in the altercation which were not life threatening.

?She was with two men,? he said. ?One was her friend and the other man was just around. It is unknown what association the other man had with her.

?They went to a bar where her friend and the other guy had an argument. They left the bar and went to Ordnance Island where there was an other altercation between the other guy and the female victim. Her friend was also there.?

Police investigations are underway into both incidents.
