Tirena?s talents on display

Turning 40 is not to everyone?s liking, but for Police officer, poet and artist Tirena Rollins, it is a great excuse to celebrate her talents with the public and also raise some money for charity. So on April 24 she will hold a two-hour, mixed media exhibition of her paintings in the executive rooms of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Admission is free.

Ms Rollins will show approximately 30 paintings, the majority of which will be abstracts, and she will also incorporate her poetry into the event. From the proceeds of sales of her work she will make a donation to charity. Ms Rollins has loved art from childhood, and gained her ?O? Level in art in high school. After joining the Bermuda Police cadets in 1981 she put art aside for some time, but decided to renew her love of painting a few years ago, and while she began by painting cartoon characters, as her art matured she developed a preference for abstracts. Her principal medium is acrylic on canvas, but she is also works in oil on canvas and charcoal on paper, and does her own framing. The Police sergeant finds art therapeutic in healing her inner soul.
