Police are working in conjunction with an overseas forensic pathologist investigating the death of a six-month old girl who died yesterday morning.

Cassidy Ann Salahuddin, of Serpentine Road, Pembroke, was taken to hospital around 9 p.m. on Monday evening in a non-responsive state with apparent severe internal injuries. At 7.15 the next morning she was pronounced dead.

“A full investigation into the death of the six-month-old girl is underway,” said Police spokesman Dwayne Caines, who refused further comment.

“A forensic pathologist will be brought in to assist the Bermuda Police Service with our investigation.”

The pathologist, Dr. Valerie Rao, will be arriving from Florida. She will work with the joint team from the Juvenile and Domestic Crime units conducting the investigation.

A 25-year old man, believed to be a relative, is also in Police custody assisting with inquiries into the girl's death.
