The Bermuda Department of Tourism attended the World Travel Market in London.

The event took place last week; civil servants as well as representatives from the Island's hotels organised a booth topped with a giant pair of Bermuda's trademark pink shorts to attract attention.

Media and trade representatives were offered traditional Dark 'n' Stormies and Rum Swizzles while steel pan music played.

Tourism Director William Griffith said: "World Travel Market is a fantastic opportunity to sell Bermuda to the UK market as well as the rest of the world. We had a packed schedule of meetings with suppliers, tour operators and media, all of whom are keen to help us drive visitors to Bermuda."

The Department also gave an Outstanding Partner Award to BA Holidays and a Partnership Excellence award to Purely Bermuda for their involvement in the 2010 tourism season.
