CableVision gets into the spirit of giving

The charity Hands of Love, which delivers food and clothing to those in need each week, has received a Christmas donation from the employees of Bermuda CableVision.

CableVision staffers collected $500 worth of non-perishable food items to be donated to the charity, which is run by administrator Fern Wade.

"Through her organisation Hands of Love, Fern Wade is making a real difference in the lives of those who need the most help," said Bermuda CableVision's customer care manager Shavonne Jeffries. "Fern's incredible generosity and loving heart have inspired all of us here at Bermuda CableVision to give something back to our community.

"In the spirit of giving, we are pleased to make this food donation to Hands of Love in the hope that it will bring joy and happiness to people less fortunate than ourselves this holiday season." Ms Wade accepted the donation at CableVision on Tuesday.

"Doing what I do is not a job; it's a passion," she said. "I love my community, and I love helping people. I love to see people happy. That's what it's all about. At Hands of Love, our motto is 'it's not about me, it's about we'.

"I would like to thank CableVision's employees for their kindness. This food donation will go a long way to making a difference in the lives of many this Christmas season."

Ms Wade has a close relationship with Bermuda CableVision and was the recipient of the company's Community Service Award in November 2005.

In addition to the food and clothing deliveries, the charity which has been in operation since 1980, runs a soup kitchen on Saturdays between November and April, for people in the community.
