With a trespassing case against them set to be heard in two weeks, the three women whose dispute with the department of Immigration's restructuring plans led to their arrest at the airport last month, have not returned to their jobs.

And The Royal Gazette understands the women not being represented by the union for Government workers.

When contacted for an update on the dispute, Edward Ball, the secretary general of the Bermuda Public Services Association said he had no idea what was going on with the three.

"I have nothing to say, I haven't heard from them," Mr. Ball said. "I guess Mr. Hodgson is representing them."

Government backbencher and lawyer Arthur Hodgson said he had met with the Permanent Secretary for the Immigration department to discuss his clients.

Beyond that he couldn't say much, saying: "At this stage I don' t know - it's still very much in the air."

Keva Douglas, Jennifer Lightbourn and Gloria Bean were arrested when they showed up at the airport to work as Immigration officers and escorted off the premises.

The three, along with other Immigration officers, had objected to restructuring plans which saw their jobs taken over by the Customs department.

The officers affected had been offered transfers within the department, to the Customs Department or to another Government department with no adverse effect on their salary and benefits.

The BPSA continues to negotiate with Government over the restructuring, on behalf of other workers with concerns.
