Planners have refused an application for a new office building in Pembroke.

The Apsley Trust was refused permission to erect the new building at Cardaire House, Spurling Hill, at the Development Applications Board meeting on Wednesday, June 18.

The application was refused on grounds that the proposed development exceeded the maximum height of three storeys above the public road, and the massing and design of the building was not compatible with the Bermuda Plan.

The board also resolved that the overall appearance of the building would not be in keeping with the surrounding properties, and said due to a lack of lay-by parking, it would also be detrimental to the flow of traffic.
