Man fined $500 for having an ?expensive mouth?

A Paget man was forced to put his money where his mouth was after admitting he hurled abuse at Police officers.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves told Dewight Stanley James that he had an "expensive mouth" yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

James, 26, of Burnt House Hill was fined $500 for using threatening words.

Crown counsel Shakira Dill said Police were standing across from the entrance to Blue Juice on March 27 when they saw staff escort James off the premises.

When staff told James that Police were close by, he looked over at them and said: "I don't care. I've been to jail. F*** you guys."

As Police approached the scene, James tried to break free.

When he was restrained, he said: "I've done f*** all."

He continued to shout abuse at Police at Hamilton Police Station, where he was put in a cell.

Ms Dill said that members of the public present during the outburst were shocked.

James had one previous conviction for the same offence.

"You show scant respect for Police," Mr. Greaves said.
