BF&M Ltd has upgraded its data management system with the addition of a new application from global open source software provider Talend. The local insurer added Talend ESB Enterprise Edition to its portfolio of Talend integration solutions, using Talend’s holistic approach to simplify application and data integration.Due to the complexity of maintaining constantly changing customer service databases and underwriting policies for a wide range of insurance offerings, BF&M chose Talend ESB Enterprise Edition to expand its application and data integration capabilities.BF&M conducts significant data integration work with partners such as transportation departments, banks and health authorities throughout Bermuda. The company initially used Talend as the critical data integration tool for its data migration project, chosen for its ease-of-use, productivity gains, data manipulation features and on-the-fly recording capabilities. Now Talend’s solutions are being used far more holistically and with Talend ESB, BF&M has expanded the use of the Talend Unified Platform, making it the single platform for all integration requirements for its production systems.“When it came time to choose an ESB solution, there was no contest,” said Paul Matthews, vice president, information technology, BF&M. “Our experience and success with Talend’s data integration solutions has proven that their products provide the best combination of flexibility and ease of use.“With Talend ESB Enterprise Edition, we are already seeing increased productivity and improvements in the way our business functions.”Talend ESB enables developers to easily build reliable, scalable and secure REST, web and data services to quickly integrate heterogeneous IT environments, both on-premise and in the cloud. Talend ESB is open and standards-based to allow wide interoperability with existing and legacy infrastructure components. Used as part of the Talend Unified Platform, Talend ESB allows developers to combine application integration with data management needs, empowering businesses to cope with the complexity of data exchanges in an increasingly connected world.“Increasingly, companies like BF&M are turning away from the complexity and cost of heavyweight proprietary infrastructure software in favour of agile and open alternatives,” said Francois Mero, vice-president of global sales, Talend. “Talend’s holistic approach to integration proves time and again that it is the ideal choice to serve as the basis for addressing any integration challenge from simple departmental projects to complex, heterogeneous IT environments.”In addition to selecting Talend ESB Enterprise Edition, BF&M is considering other products in the Talend portfolio, including Talend MDM Enterprise Edition, the leading open source Master Data Management (MDM) solution, as well as Talend’s recently-announced Talend Enterprise BPM for process integration.
