Access denied: Meeting venue changed at last minute

A planned meeting of the The Disabilities Committee had to be moved on Tuesday after new disabled access lift at the House of Assembly still wasn't ready for use.

Instead the meeting was switched back to their usual venue, The Ministry of Health boardroom.

This will be the first disabled access to the House of Assembly.

"The lift is a hair's breath away from being finished," said co-ordinator Ann Lindroth who admitted she probably jumped the gun by picking the venue before safety inspectors had signed off on the lift ? something that was due to happen later in the day.

Ms Lindroth explained the disabled community wanted access to where the laws were made so they could help improve them.
