Police have resorted to pasting ‘Wanted' posters with the face, name and details of escaped convict David Burrows Island-wide.

The first posters went up yesterday and will be put “everywhere where people are liable to see them” a Police spokesman said.

Burrows managed to escape Police on Monday, June 9.

Police media relations spokesperson Dwayne Caines, last night said: “The posters are being widely disseminated with the aim that they will be seen in most public places.”

Burrows, 21, broke out of doctor's offices at the Arches in Paget more than two weeks ago and has been on the run ever since.

He escaped despite being guarded by two Prison Officers, a move which led Prisons Commissioner John Prescod to launch an investigation into the matter. Two days after his escape Police laid on a dedicated team of four Police officers and two Prison Officers. But although they say there have been several sightings, Police as of last night, had still not managed to catch Burrows.

Burrows was convicted of sexual assault after a jury found him guilty in May of having intercourse with a 13-year old girl. At his sentencing the court also learned that he fathered twins with a 15-year old and had a previous conviction for the same offence with a different 13-year old.

He is described as light brown skinned with black hair, 5' 9 tall weighing 160 pounds. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Burrows is urged to contact Police CID at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline at 1-800-623-8427.

Police are also reminding the public that it is an offence to harbour a criminal and anyone that does so is liable to prosecution.
