Hood and Raiders the ones to catch
Robin Hood and PHC Raiders remained perched on top of their respective divisions after chalking up fine wins last Saturday.
Hood, still unbeaten this season, came from behind to finally extinguish Vasco Mariner's flame with a slim 2-1 win at Bernard Park while a four-goal second half blitz saw Raiders romp to a 5-1 triumph over a fang-less Wolves Pack at BAA Field.
The Merry Men now hold a narrow two point lead over nearest rivals MR Onions while Raiders went five-points clear of second placed Valley.
But while Raiders cruised to their eighth win of the season, Hood had to dig deep before finally edging by Mariners.
Rocked by a 25th minute Michael Bean strike that gave Mariners an early lead, Hood stormed back and equalised five-minutes before thanks to a Derek Stapely goal. Alan Mooney then delivered the knockout punch that floored Mariners with the winner midway through the second half.
Onions, meanwhile, continued to keep pace with the leaders after beating Key West Rangers convincingly 3-1 at Shelly Bay.
Rob Horn struck an early blow, giving Onions a fourth minute lead before Steve Smith extended his team's lead 13 minutes later.
Tillman Darrell scored late on for Rangers, but Onions were not done just yet as Richard Helm capped off a fine outing to grab his team's third moments before the final whistle.
North Village Rams stampeded over bottom dwellers Prison Officers 9-1 at Malabar. There was no further information on this match.
At BAA Field, home team, BAA Wanderers blanked Lobster Pot 4-0 to move up two places in the tables to fifth spot.
Gary Wilson struck twice for Wanderers in the first half, while Jahmall Mills added another shortly after the restart to make it 3-0. Pot's misery was then further compounded when Stephen Rosney smacked one into his own net.
At Lord's, St.George's All-Stars and Tuff Dogs battled to a 2-2 draw.
The home team took a 23rd minute lead through Lionel Cann and then doubled their lead when Charles Wade - finally putting an end to his self-imposed exile - scored in the 30th minute.
But Tuff Dogs refused to roll over and play dead, and instead, clawed their way back with goals from Harry Andrews and Kevin Mooney to grab a share of the spoils.
In B Division action, league leading Raiders proved too much for Wolves Pack. With only a sole Keith Bell strike in the first half to show for their efforts, the visitors stepped it up a notch in the second half with additional goals from Bell, skipper Chris Furbert (69 mins pen) and late substitutes Kenny Burt and Jack Castle sealing Wolves' fate.
Mandy Thomas scored Wolves' consolation goal early in the second half.
Valley, meanwhile, continued their fine run of late, exterminating Pest Control 2-0 at Shelly Bay.
Sean Smith provided the midas touch for the visiting team by bagging both of his team's goals. The win catapulted Valley into second spot, five points adrift of Raiders.
Prospect/Fire also recorded a 2-0 win over fast fading Dockyard Falcons at Malabar Field. Paul Fenwick and Theron Smith both emerging as the visitors goal heroes.
At White Hill Field, home team, Somerset Eagles and third placed Devonshire All-Stars played to an exciting 2-2 draw. Dion Minors and Eddie (Giggs) Calendar were both on target for the home side, while Kenny Dill netted both of All-Stars' goals.
At Somerset Cricket Club, Extros were awarded maximum points after Devonshire Lions failed to show. It was the second week in succession that Lions have failed to turn up for a match.
