Knockout Cup.

The disappointed team were expecting the Bermuda Football Association to present them with the cup for the second year in succession.

But the BFA failed to show at White Hill field and Hood were left without a trophy for their celebration photographs and video.

And it came after a long hard game against Extros, which the Hood won 3-2 in extra time.

Mike Harvey scored the winning goal seconds before the end of the first half of extra time. The two other goals came from Colin McQueen and Simon Turner.

Jerrylyn Simons and Stevie Riley netted for the Extros. Riley also missed clinching it for them near the end of regulation time when he finished badly after breaking through the middle of the defence.

Hood player/coach and full-back Colin McQueen said: "It took the shine off the day really. Everyone was disappointed because there was no cup.

"We know the BFA had the cup because we took it back to them two weeks ago.

We had won it last year when we beat Forties.

"This year we took part in a hard game with Extros and it was played in a good spirit. But it was tarnished somewhat by the BFA not appearing.'' Pete Slater, another of the team coaches who was not playing in his usual midfield role because of suspension, had stronger words to say for his team-mates.

"The whole team was upset. It has been a long hard season and it looks as though the BFA could not be bothered to bring the cup,'' he said. "I do not know what the problem was. They have not contacted us.

"I was speaking to a guy who plays for BAA and he tells me they have not received their league trophy and it is a couple of weeks since they won it.'' Right-back Paul Hawskworth added: "Everyone is really upset about it all.

Afterwards, we tried to make the best of it.

"One guy had a video and a few people were taking photographs but there was no silverware to show off.'' Slater added that the referee waited after the game expecting a presentation but it never happened.

He said: "It seems as though the BFA are not concerned about the Commercial League. They don't seem to bother about it.

"They did not turn up with the cup so we might as well have just been playing a friendly game rather than a cup final.'' In previous years the BFA has presented the trophy to the winning team straight after the game. There is no presentation evening for trophies in the Commercial League.

BFA president Charlie Marshall said he was disappointed that the cup had not been presented but said he did not know why. Elroy Ratteray, who deals with competitions, was not available to comment last night.

Saturday's Alliance Division Knockout final, which followed, saw Boulevard edge Dandy Town 2-1.
