The Bermuda National Trust (BNT) is to hold a series of fund-raisers to help singer Joy Barnum make her way to Europe.

Ms Barnum is to open for Bermudian entertainer Heather Nova on the second half of her European tour, 'A Special Acoustic Evening'.

The BNT plans to host events in aid of Ms Barnum's mid-October trip over the next two months, said executive director Jennifer Gray.

"We knew that Joy was looking for venues to perform at and we wanted to help," she said.

"It's a good fit for our mission as Joy is an ardent environmentalist and clearly a cultural resource for the Island for many years to come."

Ms Barnum said she was grateful for the support.

"I totally identify with, and support, the work of the Trust and I am looking forward to performing at their beautiful and valuable properties.

"They are effectively my first organisational sponsor for my European tour."

The first performance should take place sometime this month, she added.
