Tucker Murphy, son of Lucy and Michael Murphy and brother of Laura, has been awarded the Rhodes Scholarship for Bermuda for 2005.

Murphy plans to begin studies this fall for a master of science degree in integrative bio-science at Merton College, Oxford University.

A former Saltus Grammar School student and a magna cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. He received the anthropology department's Mckennam prize for his paper on biologist Stephen Jay Gould's theory of neoteny, as well as citations for distinguished work in architecture, Spanish literature, biology and anthropology.

Tucker was a member of Dartmouth's varsity cross-county ski team and a stroke on the freshman heavyweight crew.

This spring and summer, Murphy is working as a field biologist, tracking mountain lions in the western US.

Berklee College of Music student Austin Ross of St. George's earned a place on the Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2004-2005 academic year. To be eligible for this honour, a full-time student must achieve a grade-point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade-point average of 3.6 or above.

Berklee College of Music was founded on the revolutionary principle that the best way to prepare students for careers in music was through the study and practice of contemporary music. The Berklee curriculum focuses on practical career preparation for today's music industry.

Danielle La-tia Riley, daughter of Ms. Paula Riley graduated from Copper state University with a Bachelor's degree in Science. The ceremony took place at 1st Martiner Arena, Baltimore, Maryland. Danielle will be attending the University of Maryland in the fall to obtain the Master's degree in Biology.

Attending Danielle's graduation were Glen Riley (uncle), Darius Nicholson and Darius Jr., Erica Young, Keisha and Martina Riley, Tiffany Outerbridge and Kendra Shabazz.

Bermudian Toyra Kelly Woolridge of Smith's Parish was among 19 American International College's students entered into the Alpha Chi honour society in April

Alpha Chi recognises high academic achievement and encourages students to continue their studies through graduate work. Students inducted are within the top ten percent of their class, and have accrued at least 60 college credits. Toyra is a junior studying psychology.

Alpha Chi was founded in 1915 and is a member of the Association of college Honor Societies. The AIC chapter, the first in the Northeast, was founded in 1948.

Cleun Gaiton the son of Clinard and Constance Gaiton of Rockaway View, Southampton, graduated from DeVry University, Orlando, Florida with an Electronic Engineering Technology degree. He is a 1999 graduate of Warwick Academy.

He is presently pursuing his Master's Degree in Project Management at Keller Graduate School of Management in Orlando. Florida. Cleun's parents, sister Connicia Lee, brother-in-law Michael Lee and niece Ashlyn, Grandmother Whynona Hassell, Godparents Valette and Derrick Burrows, relatives from the US Frances and Freddy Brown and cousin Daniel.

Erin K. A. Basden, daughter of Mr. Chris Basden and Ms. Jacquelyn K. Basden has graduated from Garden State Academy High School in New Jersey, with a college prep diploma.

Erin was a recipient of a $6000 college scholarship and is a 2005 USAA nominee for the National History and Government Award. She also participated in the gospel choir, drama team, yearbook staff, cheerleading, and girls basketball team.

Family from Bermuda, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia attended the ceremony. Erin is interested in a career in law.
