Wardman shines in theatre
John Wardman, currently in his senior year at Bishop's College School in Lennoxville, Quebec, may have recently found his calling.
The first time actor was chosen to play the lead part in his school's recent play and wowed the audience on each of five successive performances. On Saturday April 12, 2003, the Players Club wrapped up a very successful run of the comedic play 'The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew'.
Dan Rae, Director, and his cast of student actors presented a truly first class play that had the audience rolling in the aisles.
John, 18, led the cast in a remarkable performance as Sir Oblong fitz Oblong. Mr. Rae said of John's performance: "He captured our fancy, a happy antidote to the seriousness of the world." John's parents, George and Claudia Wardman of Paget, who travelled to Lennoxville to watch their son's performance, were seemingly both surprised and delighted to discover the extent of his exceptional acting abilities.
John auditioned for the part not knowing what to expect but as he said: "I found a wonderful world in the theatre and through this experience I have gained confidence that will hold me in good stead".
Bishop's College School (BCS) is a Canadian independent boarding and day school for Grades 7 to 12, located in the heart of Quebec's Eastern Townships. John is one of eight students from Bermuda currently enrolled. He hopes to attend college in the United States next year.
