A pregnant woman required eight stitches for a stab wound in her leg when she tried to stop an assault on a fellow occupant of her home.

Police said that around 5.20 p.m. on Sunday a group of men went to a Fenton?s Drive, Pembroke home and attacked the man after demanding money.

The man was punched about his body and the 25-year-old woman attempted to intervene but was stabbed with a knife.

They both received treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where the woman received eight stitches to her thigh. They were later released.

Police are asking for any information into the incident.

A man was assaulted by four men, some brandishing machetes, after they followed him in his car early Monday morning.

Last night, the Warwick man was in stable condition on the general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after sustaining a laceration to his scalp, left hand and shoulder.

Police came to Lovers Lane, Paget at 1.40 a.m. after a report of an assault to find a car parked with no one inside or in the surrounding area.

Approximately ten minutes later a 44-year-old man arrived on the scene with wounds to the head and explained that around 1.20 a.m. four men followed his car from Court Street.

When the man stopped at Lovers Lane, the men pulled him out of his vehicle and began beating him and demanding for his keys to his car while some had machetes.

The Warwick man was able to escape.

He later attended KEMH for treatment to his injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident.
