Double drunk hit with $2,600 fine
A headline on Page 2 of Saturday's Royal Gazette incorrectly reported Khomeini Taalibdin, of Riviera Estates, in court as a `double drunk' driver. Mr.
Taalibdin in fact pleaded guilty twice to driving while disqualified.
Caught for disqualified driving twice in the same day, a Southampton man racked up over $2,600 in fines in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Khomeini Taalibdin, 19, of 5 Riviera Estate, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified on August 3 and twice on August 17.
Taalibdin, who failed to show for previous court dates was held by Police overnight Thursday to appear before a magistrate for the traffic offences.
On each count of disqualified driving, he was fined $750 and he was fined $290 for speeding at 60 kph on August 17.
Acting Magistrate Justin Williams also tacked on a $100 fine for a failure to wear proper headgear on October 3.
Mr. Williams ordered the fines to be paid by no later than February 7.
