Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Kulandra Ratneser said he has asked Police for more information before deciding on who to charge in the Bermuda Housing Corporation scandal.

Mr. Ratneser originally said he thought he would be able to recommend charges by the end of this month.

But he told he is getting more information from Police but expects to make his recommendations before the end of May.

?I should be able to finalise something before the end of May. I have asked the Police for more information before I make a final decision,? he said.

Claims of rampant corruption and massive over-charging at the publicly-funded corporation first surfaced in April, 2002 and Police have been investigating the matter for two years.

The fraud investigation was considered so serious that Police called in detectives from Scotland Yard in London to give them guidance.

Housing officer Terrence Smith and former general manager Raymonde Dill were sacked as a result of the scandal.

Leading former and current members of the Progressive Labour Party government are understood to have been investigated by Police probing the alleged fraud.

Smith, of Tee Street, Devonshire, and his wife Veronica, have been charged separately with two counts of false pretences with intent to defraud Capital G Ltd. of $595,000 and $245,000.
