Insurers post strong gains
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index remain unchanged yesterday to close at 3,781.67.
No issues changed price on the Exchange yesterday as the Bank of Butterfield remained unchanged at $45.75 as 3,945 shares changed hands.
The only other movement was Belco Holdings with investors trading 300 shares to close unchanged at $40.35.
The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $192,588.75 and the overall volume of shares was 4,245.
Bermuda-based insurers had a good day after shedding value on Thursday on fears that Hurricane Wilma would make landfall in the US.
Ace and Everest Re both posted big gains on the back of upgrades from analysts.
Everest gained $2.52 to close at $92.55 while ACE was up $1.41 to $50.14.
Other gainers included Endurance, up $1.30 to $32.30 and Arch Capital, which rose $1.08 to close at $47.98.
