Trimingham?s closing robs Miss Teen Bermuda her wardrobe

The teen queen has no clothes. Organisers of the Miss Teen Bermuda Islands Pageant this week revealed that the current title holder is in need of outfits for her remaining official engagements.

Terry Smith of Tee?l Productions, producers of the Miss Teen Bermuda Islands Pageant said he was told on Saturday that Trimingham?s would be unable to honour their commitment as official wardrobe sponsor.

The Hamilton department store, set to close in July, cited the closure as the reason it would be unable to fulfil its commitment.

?We have enjoyed a wonderful two years with Trimingham?s-Smith?s,? Mr. Smith said. ?And the Miss Teen Bermuda Islands Pageant would like to express its sincere thanks to the establishment for their sponsorship of make-up for contest participants and clothing for the title holder to wear to official engagements.

?The pageant would especially like to thank employees Shirley Richardson and Laverne Zuill who often worked closely with the title holder to select appropriate wardrobe for engagements.?

Mr. Smith said the reigning Miss Teen Bermuda Islands, 17-year-old Mt. St. Agnes student Stacy Pitcher, now requires outfits for the following official engagements:

The Fame Magazine Reunion on Saturday, April 30;

Marching Band Festival: Drumline Bermuda! on Saturday, May 21;

The Portuguese Festival on Tuesday, May 10;

the Bermuda Day Parade on Tuesday, May 24;

and, the Finals of the Miss Teen Bermuda Islands Pageant 2005, Sunday, August 14 when Miss Pitcher will hand over her crown.

Mr. Smith appealed to the Island?s retail and department stores who might be able to assist, or who may be interested in becoming the official wardrobe sponsor for the Pageant, to contact him at 337-5552.
