Students of Prospect Primary School celebrated a unique event of giving last Friday as they left the school grounds and went about the Island "giving from the heart".

The "Spread the Love Around Day" was the brainchild of school principal O'Brien Osborne and deputy principal Dorothy Trott, who, in a move away from materialism and commercialism, encouraged students to embark on projects which would demonstrate their caring side.

Classes engaged in a number of different activities including greeting morning commuters at Crow Lane with Johnny Barnes, cleaning up Orange Valley School, collecting trash along Palmetto Road, handing out fruit baskets to some of the elderly in the area, setting lunch tables for seniors at the Lorraine Rest Home, visiting seniors at the Matilda Smith Rest Home, cleaning up their school and helping out at the Sunshine League.

In addition, the Prospect Primary School choral speakers cleaned the games room of the Children's Ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The choral speakers also handed out donated games to the Children's Ward.

The school also made clothing and book donations to various charities and to barber shops, beauty salons, doctor's offices and pre-schools.
