barbers and/or hairdressers to volunteer in several areas of the Devonshire facility.

The hospital needs young people to run its Tuck Shop and snack cart during their summer break.

"They should be 15 or older and must be mature, honest and have a sound knowledge of basic math,'' volunteer coordinator Linda Trott said. "Both males and females are welcome.'' Successful applicants will be required to join an orientation programme on July 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan's, and thereafter must be willing to give a 20-hour commitment any time between Monday and Friday over a seven-week period.

Mrs. Trott noted that students completing the compulsory 20 hours' service during the summer would receive a certificate of participation at the end.

"Many of the schools ask for ten hours of community service, so when they start school in September, the students who have worked at St. Brendan's will have had a head start,'' she noted.

The hospital is also looking for a volunteer barber or hairdresser/barber to make regular visits to its patients.

"We have a beauty salon at St. Brendan's and we would like someone to volunteer to come in once or twice a week to help our clients feel and look better,'' Mrs. Trott said. "They can come any time between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m., or as necessary. Once the clients have their hair maintained, the visits need not be so frequent.'' While the gentlemen clients will only need a haircut, the ladies will require a wash, set and styling.
