De Ste Croix first home in Park race

Neil de Ste Croix claimed victory in the penultimate round of the Conrad’s Mountain Bike Series at Admiralty Park over the weekend.De Ste Croix completed the nine-lap course in around 42 minutes, with Mark Hatherley finishing second and Grant Goudge third in the men’s A group.Junior Dominique Mayo had been a strong position to take second place until a flat tyre took him out of the competition.Dexter Swan, followed by a resurgent Jeff Amaral ahead of Hans Hirshi, once again dominated the men’s B race. Amaral’s return to form can be put down to his training in advance of the Tour of the Battenkill road race in Cambridge, New York on April 10.Other category winners were Daniel Oatley in the male 13-16, Gabriella Arnold in the female 13-16, Robin Horsfield in male 12 and under and Jessie Godfrey in the female 12 and under.In the schools competition, Saltus have stretched their lead over Somersfield Academy, virtually guaranteeing them the series title, with the latter needing to make up 40 points in the final race.This weekend will see racing at at Ferry Reach, starting at 9.15 am.The following weekend see the final event of the season when the Bermuda Bicycle Association (BBA) hold the Winners Edge Championship, also at Ferry Reach.
